Keep Your Pieces Beautiful, Just Like You
Your swimwear is an investment in comfort, style, and confidence, so why not give it the care it deserves? What we recommend to ensure your swimwear stands the test of time:
Fresh Water First
After every swim, give your swimsuit a quick rinse with cold, fresh water to wash away salt, chlorine, sand, and sunscreen. This helps prevent build up that can weaken the fabric and dull the colours. If you’re at the beach, try to rinse it out as soon as you can to stop saltwater from drying on the fabric.
Gentle Wash Only
Always hand wash your swimwear, skip the machine! Fill a basin with lukewarm water and add a small amount of mild detergent. Gently press the water through your swimsuit without scrubbing or twisting. Think of it as a mini spa treatment for your swimwear. Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear, but avoid any wringing or twisting.
Fabric Friendly Drying
Never hang your swimsuit by the straps or leave it in direct sunlight. Instead, lay it flat on a clean towel to air-dry. This helps maintain its shape, prevents stretching, and avoids color fade from sun exposure. Don’t rush it—give your swimwear time to dry completely in a shaded, cool spot before storing it.
Avoid The Rough Stuff
Be mindful of rough or abrasive surfaces like pool edges, rocky beaches, or sharp-edged lounge chairs. These can easily snag delicate fabrics. If you're lounging on rough terrain, lay a towel down first. Also, steer clear of sitting on rough rocks or concrete to protect those delicate fibres.
Rotate Your Swimwear
Give your favourite swimsuits a break! If you wear your swimwear regularly, rotate between different pieces to give each one time to recover and dry out completely. This reduces the wear-and-tear on any one suit and helps it maintain its elasticity and shape longer.
Store With Care
When you’re not using your swimsuit, fold or hang it carefully in a cool, dry place. Avoid stuffing it into a damp towel or tossing it into your bag for long periods. If you must store it in a bag, opt for a breathable mesh bag to keep moisture from lingering. For extra protection, choose a non-plastic hanger to avoid creases.
Sunscreen Smart
Before you slip into your swimwear, let your sunscreen fully absorb into your skin to avoid direct contact with the fabric. Oils and chemicals in lotions can break down swimwear fibers over time, leaving marks or discoloration. If your sunscreen has spilled on your swimsuit, rinse it off immediately to prevent stains.
Avoid The Heat (And Not Just The Sun)
Avoid using hot water or a dryer to wash or dry your swimwear. Heat breaks down elastic fibres and can cause your swimsuit to lose shape, so stick to cool or lukewarm water for cleaning and natural air-drying for the best results.
Do A Quick Fit Test Before Wearing
Once your swimwear is dry, try it on to check for any stretching or loss of fit. If it feels looser than before, it might be time for a replacement or a more gentle washing routine next time. Always give it a gentle stretch to see if it bounces back to its original shape.
Know When To Retire It
Swimwear has a lifespan. If you notice fading, stretching, or fabric thinning, it’s time to let go of your trusty suit and make room for a fresh one. The fabric may lose its elasticity over time, especially if exposed to harsh chemicals or frequent wear. Keep an eye out for signs of wear and replace pieces when they no longer provide proper support or coverage.
